We celebrated our AOL scouts tonight as they crossed over to Troop 174 or other new adventures. These scouts have worked hard over the last few years working on adventures and earning rank badges. Good luck to all of you in your new adventures!!

Here fishy fishy!! Scouts used this beautiful day to try ice fishing. A few had some luck, but fun was had by all. Thank you to Inn Towne Marina for your guidance and launch use.

The AOLs finished their last requirement, First Aid. We had the pleasure of meeting with Doug, a Ridgeview paramedic, who gave the scouts some great education on first aid and medical situations. They also got to tour an ambulance and feel what it’s like to be a patient. Thanks B for being such a good sport! You are prepared; put those first aid kits to good use! Next up, Blue and Gold!

The Bear Den had a Super Science Monday. They did a static electricity experiment. Did a sink or float investigation. Checked out some color morphing and layering.

We spread Christmas cheer along the streets of downtown Chaska this afternoon! I’m not sure who had more fun, the kids or parents?!

Why Join Cub Scouting?
- If you could give only one gift to the young people who are most important in your life, what would it be? No matter what your family situation is, it is within your power to help these children grow into people with a good feeling about themselves and a genuine concern for others. Cub Scouting can assist you in providing this greatest gift of all.
- Cub Scout-age children benefit developmentally from belonging to a small group of peers. Your child will be a part of a den, a small group of Cub Scouts in the same grade level and who are of the same gender. Through this sense of belonging, children build self-esteem and learn to get along with others.
- As a parent, you want to be assured that the groups that your child joins will teach values consistent with good citizenship, character development, personal fitness, and leadership. The values we seek to instill are found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
- We know that kids do not join Cub Scouting for character building. Kids join because it is FUN. Your child will learn great lessons, but they will be far too busy having fun to notice.

BSA Youth Protection Mission Statement
True youth protection can be achieved only through the focused commitment of everyone in Scouting. It is the mission of Youth Protection volunteers and professionals to work within the Boy Scouts of America to maintain a culture of Youth Protection awareness and safety at the national, regional, area, council, district, and unit levels.
Required Training
- Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers and is a joining requirement.
- Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.
